The EPICC Garden Project

We aim to develop our school garden to educate our students about where their food comes from, and to promote sustainable ways of producing food. Our students are given the opportunity to gain knowledge, expertise and life skills through hands-on, skills based learning. The work we do with out students in the garden is a vital vehicle which our staff use to build relationships, deliver nurture sessions and re-engage our students who at times can experience barriers to their learning.

Creating some shade for our hens

Our hens have been suffering a bit in the heat, so today we tried to make them a bit more comfortable by making a few shady spots in their run.

We used some conifer branches to make a lean-to shelter and a tarp to block out a bit of the sun - last year we had to use the tarp as a rain-shelter for the hens!

Our hens even get their own parasol!
