September 2nd Harvest time in the garden.

A new academic year at school.  Harvest time seems to have come early this year.  We have been trying to keep as much produce as possible in the ground and on the plants for the students to harvest once back at school.
Kale, Courgettes, some have turned into marrows - tomatoes and a couple of cobs of sweetcorn.

Some lovely purple beans.

Our garlic has now dried out and is ready to be made into pasta sauce or put into bottles of olive oil to make some flavoured oil which we will sell at one of our stalls.

More tomatoes which were picked from the poly tunnel and our greenhouse, and a few chillies and a sweet pepper too.

Some potatoes which we dug up today.

Digging over a raised bed and planting some broad bean plants.

A selection of tomatoes from the poly tunnel.

We have some massive slugs in the garden - the ducks seem to be doing a good job finding them in the grass and eating them up.

Digging over one of the raised beds.
One of our huge sunflowers has gone to seed creating this fantastic seed head which we are planning to dry out and either use for seed next year or to feed the birds in winter.

A wheelbarrow of red onions which were pulled up today, we have put them in trays in the poly tunnel to dry out so that they keep over the winter.

More seed collection, we are going to collect the seed from our wildflower areas to use to sow next year.
